HydroCision's
novel fluidjet system for Disc Preperation in Lumbar Interbody
Fusion to be presented to surgical community
Billerica , Mass. , July 5, 2005 – A breakthrough
fluidjet technology introduced last year by HydroCision to
treat degenerated spinal discs is poised for international
exposure to the medical community. A paper titled “Evaluation
of a Novel Hydrosurgery System for Disc Preparation in Lumbar
Interbody Fusion in a Cadaver Model” will be presented to
surgeons and medical scientists at the 12th
International Meeting of Advanced Spine Technology
(IMAST) in Banff , Alberta , Canada on July 7-9,
2005.
The
paper, authored by Dr. Ali Araghi (Texas Back Institute) and
others, presents the effectiveness of Hydrosurgery in removing
spinal disc nucleus material and preparing the disc endplate
for spinal fusion.
HydroCision's
Hydrosurgery™ system, including SpineJet XL instruments,
uses a high velocity stream of water to simultaneously cut
and asperate out damaged tissue from spinal disc nucleus in
preparation for fusion. The technique's advantages include
effective removal of degenerated tissue and optimal endplate
preparation that can lead to better outcomes.
