HydroCision Inc. Announces $4 Million Dollar Private Equity Funding From Tradewind

Billerica, Massachusetts – HydroCision Inc., manufacturers of fluid-jet systems for the medical field, announced today that it has secured a $4 million dollar investment from Tradewind International, the company’s Chinese distributor.

HydroCision Inc. is a privately held medical device company focused on the commercialization of its proprietary fluid-jet technology, which enables physicians in a wide range of orthopedic applications to utilize a hair-thin, supersonic stream of sterile saline to excise tissue of various densities from a surgical site in a minimally invasive manner.

HydroCision, Inc. CEO Paul Kowalski explains: “Our primary focus is to improve surgical outcomes by adapting water jet technology to various medical applications. Because Tradewind’s primary focus is on the traditional Chinese “minimally-invasive” approach to medicine, we believe there is enormous market potential for the technology in China including orthopedic applications such as spine and tendinopathy.”

HydroCision’s single use hand instruments have been specifically designed to debride diseased tissue faster and with higher precision than other surgical modalities, thereby enhancing clinical and economic outcomes in multiple fields of surgery.

Tradewind Chairman Anthony Yu explains “We use HydroCision’s fluid-jet technology under the guidance of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to focus on the whole human body system and regulate its balance to achieve and maintain a healthy state.  The application of this technology will help accelerate the progress of TCM modernization, such as replacing some existing TCM tools and methodologies, thereby improving health benefits.”

“Having successfully licensed and commercialized the technology in the wound care and spinal surgery fields, we are very pleased that by virtue of HydroCision’s commitment to continual technology refinements, we are now prepared to broaden market applications,” explains Kowalski.
